Sneaky, sneaky...

It's true. I'm turning into my parents. Apparently, the summertime craving for Dairy Queen Blizzards is in my blood. It's apparently in Ryan's blood too. Almost every single night this summer, say 15 to 20 minutes after dinner, Ryan and I will look at each other and say, "who wants to go to DQ tonight?" We'll debate for a while until we either become content with the fact neither of us is going to go pick up two blizzards, or until Ryan finally caves in. It's pretty much a routine.
Well, last night was no exception. The only exception was that the sky was black, it was pouring down rain and lightning was lighting up the sky. I opened the back door, peered out into the storm, debated for a fraction of a second... and then Ryan walks in the kitchen and pulls two DQ Blizzards out of the freezer. Sneaky, sneaky! And that, my friends, is just one of the many reasons why I love him so much. :)

A notorious wild man!

It's no secret that my sweet little nephew Jack is a bit of a wild man. His abundance of energy just screams daredevil, so much so, that it wasn't really a shock when I received an email from my sister-in-law, Kirsten, that Jack had broken his arm. The first question that popped into my head.... HOW? Doing a double combo break dancing move off his bed. And that my friends, resulted in this:

This picture just breaks my heart... Poor little guy! The thing is, he is SO tough. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be just fine and perhaps once he is back on his feet, he just may have a little ego boost from the battle wound and cast to prove it. And just maaaaaaaaybe next time he'll keep it simple and just go for the single combo move. :)

Prayers and well wishes are welcome! Uncle Ryan and Aunt Katie love you Jack-a-roo!!!

Oy!

Well, if I might say so myself, that was quite a pitiful comeback to my blog. My sincerest apologies. It's quite possible the timing wasn't right. You see, this summer = the best summer ever = the busiest summer ever = not much time for blogging. The sad part about that is that I'd love to document all of these moments and that's what this is for, but I haven't quite found the time (or discipline) to blog in the midst of my crazy life. Rest assured, there is fun being had. Sooooo... I'll give you a little rundown of my life since we last met.

We hopped up to the mountains for a quick weekend and spent some down time with my in-laws and relaxed on their beautiful ranch. I cannot possibly put into words, the beauty and refuge found at their home, so a few pictures will have to do.

It is pure bliss and serenity and you want to know the best part about it? No cell phone service and no internet. Isn't that great!? A true getaway does exist and it's just two hours away from home. We are blessed.

After we got back from the mountains, I went to Chicago for a little work trip. I guess you gotta work hard so you can play hard. No pictures there. I figured pictures of airports, hotels and boardrooms would sort of bore you to tears.

Then, not 12 hours after I got home from Chicago, we were off to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for an a-m-a-z-i-n-g wedding weekend. Congratulations to Jason and Evan! It was one of those weddings that was just simple in thought and spirit, but so evidently filled with love, adoration and newlywed bliss. Not to mention, the setting, out of this world! It was also a mini-reunion for all my college friends and oooooh boy is it fun when we all get together.

Then, after all that, I got home and promptly got sick. (Note to self: Quit planning 18 trips back to back. Your body hates it. A lot. Thanks.) So, I'm posting this from bed where I have been since Tuesday with a temperature. I think I'm on the ups though.... but, thank goodness we have a free weekend coming up. Last free weekend until mid-September. Yikes! Hang on, it's going to be a wild summer's end.

Love, Love and Love.

"I'm so excited about it!"

Lucky me, I just got a sweet sweet call from my sweet sweet Papa. Wishing him many prayers for a flawless recovery from surgery yesterday and bless his big heart! xoxo

So, whatcha been up to?

Here is a quick little run down. A little snapshot if you will. And then we'll move on to the present, shall we? 3 months sure flies right on by when you're having fun, when you are so busy you can't keep straight up from down and when life is chalk full of goodness and a little goodness graciousness too.

1. This little piece of the internet, otherwise known as my blog was a bit under fire. So, the blog came down. After much thought and consideration, we're back. This. Is. Me. Not ALL of me, mind you, but a little slice of fun, memories and thoughts. A scrapbook and journal of sorts for the memory books.

2. Once upon a time, I lived on an airplane, in an airport and in a several Marriott's nationwide. True story. I've spent more of the last three months away from home than I care to, although some serious fun was had.

3. Off to Dallas ya'll to see the in-laws, which includes my precious niece and nephew. If we didn't love Denver so much, I'd seriously consider Dallas as my home. Great city, great people and great family. Our visit went much too fast.

4. Scottsdale for a little rendezvous and R&R with the hubby. Amazing weekend.

5. San Fran and Napa for a super girly and super fun bachelorette weekend.

6. Chicago more times than I care to count. Work, not pleasure.

7. The Golf Season started and Colorado turned GREEN!

8. Summer started in Colorado and what energy and renewal that brings to the air! I can't say it enough... I love, love, love seasons!

9. Summer Hours started and every so often I actually take them. 1/2 day Friday's... wonderous!

10. We celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary in style! Our marriage is more fulfilling than I could have ever wished for. Love you honey!

11. I started C25K 3 times. This little blog is going to keep me accountable. We're rounding out week 2. Wish me luck!

12. Oh, that little herb garden filled with intention. Dead. I've turned in my gardening gloves. :)

I think I hit the high points. I could probably go on for days because the past 3 months have been the busiest I can remember. Seems I always say that and then life surprises me. All in all, it's a good life and I'm loving living it.

Bringin' it back.

Isn't it funny how the sun shines just a little bit brighter after the storm has passed?

I've missed you little blog of mine. The interlude is over and the song must go on. Thanks for joining me once again. More fun ahead.
